Around Town ~ Clemetine

A long standing staple of Sulphur Springs, Yard by Yard, has successfully changed hands to become Clementine. Ready to celebrate their one year Anniversary on May 31st, Clementine has quickly become a local favorite for plants, coffee and community. Located at 612 Church Street, they are open 7:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday - Friday and 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. Saturday and closed Sunday except for special events. To book your party or event call and speak to Hope at 903-885-5371.

Hope and Steve have many years of experience in the garden and landscape world from having a landscape business in Dallas that they sold to make the jump to owning Clementine. Never fear, if you have any landscaping needs they can still help you out.  If you purchase a tree they will plant it for you as an install. Do you need landscape design services and lawn care? Look no further, they have become a one stop shop for all your outside gardening needs.

The Cafe Market was developed as a way to draw in the community for a location to meet up and join with friends and family alike. The market is a great place for the community to hang out and experience the garden. Making it more shoppable. You can find indoor plants, garden essentials, and of course coffee. The market is the perfect setting for remote work space  in a different environment.

The garden center is set up for landscapers and the home gardener.  Bulk orders for landscaping needs as well as single plants to adorn your home garden are easily found and purchased when you visit.  You can stroll through the garden center that looks more like an arboretum than a traditional garden center.  Displays are set up for guests to determine if they like the look and feel of the placement of plants, to use in their own home garden.

They even have a veggie patch that demonstrates great ways to add in a garden to your own home easily.  Of course, any veggies that they have grown can be purchased in the Cafe, while some will be used in the food that they make on site.  It’s really a great way to see and know where your food comes from or to discover new ways to grow the items you love. They also bake all their items on site, have seasonal soups, salads and specialty coffee. Breakfast and lunch items, with specific seasonal offerings.

Hope stated that the “staff has been great, and working well with each other.” This has allowed them to offer parties and classes.  They can accommodate up to 40 people seated in the back room, and love to host on Sunday when it can be the whole location. Many of the classes they offer are for free on Saturdays on how to grow things.  You can find classes on the website clementinenursery.com or on Facebook and Instagram as well.

They don’t plan to stop there.  They are expanding behind their property towards Houston Street.  Their goals are to expand the cafe garden to  grow a lot of their own veggies, for salads as well as selling over stock. All of their veggies are organic and they plan to add in chickens one day as well.

Along with expanding their own business they are trying to pull in other businesses, they are also looking to help support local artists and others with hand crafted items.  Their space provides a great one to display unique art pieces in multiple forms.  They want you to know that everyone is welcome and it’s a place to experience new things.  Stop by for a visit soon.

Around Town ~ Jay Hodge Chevrolet

For the past ten years Jay Hodge has been a pillar in the Sulphur Springs community.  Staff members have been active in local community organizations such as the North East Texas Symphony League, Kiwanis or as an event signature sponsor.  This winter they are celebrating their success of ten wonderful years in the industry and community with the “Deal of the Decade Event.”  Afterall, their success comes from having wonderful customers who have supported them over the years.

Jay Hodge is located at 478 Wildcat Way, right here in Sulphur Springs.  Their sales hours are Monday - Friday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.  The parts and service department is open Monday - Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Saturday 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. Over the years, Jay Hodge has been recognized locally and industry wise with awards.  The GM Mark of Excellence has been earned nine years in a row.  Which means that they have excelled in sales, satisfaction, as well as parts and service, as a dealership in the GM family.

Locally they have been voted on the News Telegram Awards as the “Best Dealership” for the past Nine Years.  The local recognition and company recognition come from a great sales and service team and of course wonderful customers.  Without their customers none of these awards would be possible, so they give a heartfelt thank you to each one who trusts in them for all their automotive needs.

Jay Hodge is taking their customer satisfaction a step further by providing a mobile service van for anyone to utilize.  Schedule your minor service repair and the van will come to you.  If you do not have time to visit the dealership for your oil change, or other service needs, they can visit you onsite where you are located.  They offer a subscription service for anyone to purchase and receive this specialized care.  They will also service any make or model, just give them a call.  No need to have purchased a vehicle from them, their goal is to make getting your car serviced and operating at prime capacity, easy and convenient.

The convenience of purchasing a new car during their “Deal of a Decade Event” has just gotten easier.  Interest rates have lowered, and there are rebates offered by the manufacturer and dealer for discounts up to $10,000.  Now is a great time to stop by and see one of their sales people to test drive a new car and walk away with an amazing deal.  The holidays are a great reason to put that big red bow on a new car for someone you love.

The Oaks Bed and Breakfast had the pleasure of serving the Jay Hodge customers and employees for their 10 year anniversary this past Thursday. We enjoyed visiting with everyone that stopped by, and enjoyed celebrating this milestone with them.  We hope that you will visit the dealership and discover your next dream vehicle.

Around Town ~ Nail Luxe

Hello 2024!  What a whirlwind 2023 was and boy are we looking forward to 2024 to see what this year holds and how it will shape up.  To shake things up this year for your entertainment, I am going to start a new series where we look at the different shopping and services that our town has to offer.  I’m sure most people are aware of many of the places we will visit, but just in case you haven’t yet tried it out, we want to tell you about our experience.

First up we visited Nail Luxe located in downtown Sulphur Springs, Texas at 230 Main Street, suite A.  Their hours of operation are 9:30 a. m. – 7:30 p. m. Monday through Friday.  Saturday from 9 a. m. – 7 p. m. and Sunday 11 a. m. – 5 p. m.  Just as the name suggests they offer all nail services, from pedicures to manicures, along with gel polish, dips and more.  In addition to nail services, they offer massages, waxing and eye lash extensions.  Before you go, you can review other services on their website, which offers the option to schedule an appointment online as well.   When you select your service, you can even select the technician.  This way if you find a technician you like, you can always use them.  What a great way to build relationships with your clients.

We went in for a pedicure today to help keep our feet and skin heathy during the dry winter months.  It always amazes me how much the cooler temperatures dry out a person’s skin.  Overall, our pedicures were efficient and comfortable.  We were walk-in’s and we were able to be served right away once everyone was at the location.

Since we were there on a weekday, we received a discount on our services, which was unexpected but nice.  The offer a discount on the weekend as well just in a smaller amount and based off the total spent.  The store front is conveniently located downtown on the corner of Main Street and Davis Street.  Close to the parking near the police station.  The inside looks clean and fresh.  The brightly colored chairs stand out well against the white background of the floor and walls.  Our technicians were pleasant and did a good job over all on our pedicures.

If you are out and about shopping and need a break or are planning a spa day with friends, be sure to stop by Nail Luxe and experience what they have to offer their customers.  If you have a business in Sulphur Springs, you would like us to visit and highlight please reach out to Allison at The Oaks Bed and Breakfast so we can stop by and let more people know about what you have to offer.
